On the morning of July 3, 1863 Jennie Wade uttered the words: “If someone is going to die today, let it be me.” As the fire of war raged through the town of Gettysburg Jennie would make the ultimate sacrifice at 8:30am. A sniper’s bullet enter through the kitchen door where Ms. Wade was kneading bread.
Her words that morning reminds us of the selfishness, courage and bravery during times of chaos. A perpetual flag flies over her grave in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg PA.
