While I have never worked in the history or theatre industry I do have some knowledge about them. I have a BA in History and an interest in the American Revolution and the Salem Witch Hysteria (1692-1693.) As far as theatre, I tend to gravitate towards the golden age of Broadway. Even though I haven’t worked in these industries, I feel I can still be of benefit to you because of the passion I have.

My Writing Procedure

Contact and Communication

As we work together, it is important that we have an open and transparent communication process. During our project, I am available Monday through Friday from 10am-4pm. The best way to reach me is through Email (immaculaterosestudio@thomasmcgovernjr.com)

Discussing the Project and Questionnaire

For us to get started with your project, I will send you a Discovering Questionnaire to complete. This will help both of us clearly define the scope of the project to ensure maximum results

I will send a link to the questionnaire via Google Docs (or a Word File to your email.) Please return it as quickly as possible. For most clients that is between 1 and 3 business days.

After the questionnaire is received I will review your answers, plus any other resources that are needed or provided by you. I will then outline a project roadmap. This will save time and see I fully understand the project.

3-10 days after I receive the Discovery Questionnaire we will schedule a 20-minute lunch call. During this time.we will discuss the project roadmap If you have any suggestions or concerns please feel free to ask me during the meeting.

Following the conversation, I will provide a proposal and send it for your signature. (If your legal team has an agreement, we can use that.)

Investment and Getting Started

The agreement will contain all the specifics on what exactly I will deliver, including project deadline. It will also list your investment for the project and the terms of payment. (Note: I request 50% of the projects to begin).

Once we have both sign the agreement, I will begin working on said project as agreed.

Research

My research process is very comprehensive. I begin with a complete review of your website and any other materials you send me. From there, I will research the market, including your competitors. In some cases, I will ask to contact your customer service team, past clients/consumers, and different department heads.

As needed, I will reach out to you for additional information, and other relevant resources.

You can be confident that I’ll quickly and effectively understand your venue, your voice and your customer’s core emotional expectations.

Collaboration

As we work on the project together, communication is critical. Some of you may be busy and choose to hand off the project to to me and review the fist draft with very little communication.

Others will like to be more involved and will seek more frequent contact.

Which are you?

Please contact me and let me know how often you would like to communicate and what is the best way to reach out to you.

One other point—I require that you assign a single point of contact for me. I will communicate directly with that person and they will deal with with the other members of your team as needed to obtain other information and approval.

Finally, I do all of my writing in Google Docs. It allows us to track changes, comments and collaborations in real time. It can be shared with other team member and the working document is always the current document.

Review and First Draft

Typically, you will receive the first draft in 10-14 business days— depending on the scope and size of the project.

When you receive the first draft, please review it carefully. Also have any applicable team member do the same. The most important thing at this stage is to make sure the tone, message and the offer are right. Well fine tune during the second draft; and the third draft, as needed.

Revisions

After your review of the first draft, it is likely you’ll want some things changed. Please note these changes in the comment feature inside Goggle Docs. You may also use the Edit Mode, which I will turn on when I send this document to you.

I will review all of the suggestions within 24-hour of you submitting them to me. I will make the suggested changes within 2-4 business days, depending on the breath and complexity of your suggestions.

In all cases, I recognize that these are your customers and will defer to you.

Additional Revisions

After the first round of revisions, there may be some fine tuning needed. You can be confident that I will gladly work with you until you are delighted with the copy. In most cases my clients find that one review volley is enough. When more is needed, it is usually just one or two. Typically we can get you a final draft within 1-3 business days.

Final Approval—

Once all revisions are complete, I will submit the project to you. At this point, you approve the copy by sending an email stating that everything is ready for distribution.

Once this is received I will invoice you for the remaining 50% of the investment. The invoice is due upon receipt. I will make every effort to be prompt in responding to your request and, as a professional—you will be asked do the same concerning my invoice.

In most instances, the final copy is will be sent to a designer for formatting. I strongly encourage you send me me a PDF of the approved version. I will double check that any graphic elements are added by your design team to enhance the copy and make it more effective.

If required, I’m happy to work with your design team to make any changes needed to make the end version as effective as possible.

Transition to New Project—

Once the project is done, I provide to all my clients with a complimentary follow-up consultation. We spend a few minutes and discuss what went well and where improvements could have been made.

We will review the Discovery Questionnaire and discuss additional ways to uncover new profits. Where appropriate we will map out new projects to ensure you continue to have excellent copy which meets your goals as you grow your business.

Bio

While growing-up my parents took the family to many historical venues. This is where I developed my love for history. And I think my fascination with the New England region is because we always seem to spend a week on cape cod each year. So naturally the Revolutionary War became one of the subjects which interested me. The other became the Salem Witch Hysteria of 1692-1693. I tend to like history where people overcome; when there is a fight between those who think they are entitled vs those who are subjects of said people.

When I was in high school my GPA was average but I excelled in history. There were 8 semesters and I received an A in seven of them. History just related to me. In a world where imagination is supposed to rule the past allows you to use this skill. Where can you live in another time and be part of that world? As we travel through time we also learn how to shape the future. “What other subject makes you appear smarter than you are.”

It was only a short time ago I found out about having Asperger’s disorder. Knowing that I was on the autism spectrum has made my life easier and to understand my past. For example, I was never the great communicator and still feel awkward in these situations. But I can write!

In addition to the Immaculate Rose Studio, I have a poetry site (www.allpoetry.com/tommcge)

In which I write and share a poem a day.

“The question itself is really not important. It is the idea that we even have the right to ask the question.”— Sam Adams, Sons of Liberty

As a person who has struggled in life, who always felt a little awkward I find this quote to be very relevant. History is also a story of those who overcame and people’s struggles. It teaches us that there are hard and difficult times but we have been through tough times before. Perhaps that is why life does seem overwhelming at times; perhaps we have failed to remember those who have gone before us and their difficulties, hopes, fears and dreams.
